The History of the Black Baylor Helmet November 17, 2015 18:09
Everyone has their own favorite Baylor uniform. Given Baylor's recent success, the 2015 football team has the option to wear 6 different helmets, 4 different jerseys, and 5 different pants. The Baylor Bears could wear a different uniform combination in every game for the next 10 years! Since we are not yet in the shirt or pants game, Bailes Brothers has decided to pay homage to these Baylor helmets by creating 5 hats designed to emulate the style of these awesome helmets.
The helmets worn by the Baylor Bears have changed quite a bit over the years. In this post I will analyze Baylor's black helmets, the results of each game while wearing these helmets, and its variants.
The black Baylor helmet was first introduced on November 27, 2013 during Baylor's first blackout game against #12 Oklahoma. This helmet featured a black matte shell with metallic gold interlocking BUs outlined in dark green on the sides. The Baylor Bears won that game 41 to 12 against the Sooners. That was only the second time that Baylor had beaten Oklahoma since their first win in 2011.
The next time Baylor used the black helmets was on November 23, 2013 against the #11 Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Baylor would unfortunately lose that game, scoring 17 to the Cowboys 49.
Baylor started off the 2014 season wearing these black helmets against the SMU Mustangs on August 31, 2014. This was also the first game the Baylor Bears played in the newly built McLane Stadium. Baylor went on to shut out the Mustangs 45 to 0.
Baylor wore these helmets again on November 22, 2014 against Oklahoma State in Waco. Baylor went on to win that game 49 to 28.
Baylor last wore the black helmets on November 14, 2015 against the #12 Oklahoma Sooners. It was a cold, wet game that ended in Baylor losing 34 to 44. This was Baylor's first loss of the 2015 season.
Baylor's record while wearing these black helmets is 3 wins and 2 losses.
The Baylor Bears do have an alternate version of their black helmet, but it has never been used. This helmet features a black matte shell with dark interlocking BUs outlined in metallic gold on the sides. Only time will tell if Baylor will decide to use this design or not.
In honor of Baylor's black helmets, Bailes Brothers has introduced a hat resembling the most recent white BU helmet worn by the Baylor Bears since 2013. Check it out by clicking the link provided below. Check out the entire Helmet Collection by clicking this link --> The Baylor Helmet Collection.
The History of the White Baylor Helmet June 30, 2015 21:41
Everyone has their own favorite Baylor uniform. Given Baylor's recent success, the 2015 football team has the option to wear 6 different helmets, 4 different jerseys, and 5 different pants. The Baylor Bears could wear a different uniform combination in every game for the next 10 years! The helmets worn by the Baylor Bears have changed quite a bit over the years. In this post I will analyze how the white Baylor helmet has transformed.
The white Baylor helmet was first introduced in 1969 during the not so great reign of head coach Bill Beall. This helmet featured forest green, yellow gold & forest green stripes running down the middle and solid forest green interlocking BUs on the sides. This helmet was the first helmet to display the now well known interlocking BU. The Baylor Bears stopped using this helmet after the 1971 football season and the firing of Bill Beall with his 3-28 record.
The next version of the white Baylor helmet was reintroduced in 2009 during the second year of Art Briles' tenure. This helmet featured dark green, white, & dark green stripes running down the middle and solid dark green interlocking BUs on the sides. The Baylor Bears stopped using this helmet after the 2012 football season.
On September 11, 2010, the Baylor Bears wore a special white helmet featuring digital camouflage to memorialize the date. This helmet featured dark green, digital camouflage, & dark green stripes running down the middle and digital camouflage interlocking BUs outlined in dark green on the sides. Baylor won the game against Buffalo handily with a 34-6 victory.
In 2013, the Baylor Bears introduced the most recent rendition of the white Baylor helmet. This helmet featured a dark green interlocking BU outlined in gold without stripes running down the middle.
In honor of Baylor's white helmets, Bailes Brothers has introduced a hat resembling the most recent white BU helmet worn by the Baylor Bears since 2013. Check it out by clicking the link provided below. Check out the entire Helmet Collection by clicking this link --> The Baylor Helmet Collection.

How Did The Polo Shirt Come About? December 01, 2014 21:59
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, tennis players wore "tennis whites" consisting of long-sleeve white button down shirts (with the sleeves rolled up), flannel trousers, and ties. As you can imagine, it would be difficult to play in this attire.
Fed up with the uncomfortable apparel, René Lacoste (a seven-time Grand Slam tennis champion, designed a white, short-sleeved, loosely-knit shirt with an unstarched, flat, protruding collar, a buttoned placket, and a shirt-tail long in the back than in the front. He wore this shirt in the 1926 U.S. Open championship and won! In 1927, he placed a crocodile emblem on the left breast of his shirts. This is how Lacoste got its start. Polo players adopted the Lacoste polo in the early 1950s causing the term polo shirt to become a universal moniker for the tennis shirt.
In 1920, Lewis Lacey (a polo player) began producing a long-sleeve buttoned-down shirt that was embroidered with the logo of a polo player, a design originating at the Hurlingham Polo Club near Buenos Aires. This was 19 years before the birth of Ralph Lauren, and 52 years before he marketed a shirt embroidered with the logo of a polo player as a prominent part of his original line Polo. Ralph Lauren wanted a brand name that portrayed sophistication and timelessness so he named his line after the sport of the wealthy and the Royals - Polo. This clothing line further boosted the popularity of polo shirts.
During the 1990's, the polo shirt became the standard informal business attire for many industries. If you look around you today, it would be a rare occasion to go a day without seeing someone wearing a polo shirt.
In 2014, Ryan and Lea Bailes started Bailes Brothers. We are taking after Lacoste and Lauren and offer our customers subtle apparel for both work and play. We look back on the story of the polo shirt and hope to improve upon its rich history. It's the start of a great future for Bailes Brothers and for Polo Shirts. We welcome you to become part of the Bailes Brothers story.
